The CENTRO PROVINCIALE ISTRUZIONE ADULTI is a statal school for adult education working in all the province of Taranto, a city with a big unemployment rate, that provides education to adults and to refugees in order, for example, to learn a foreign language or ICT competences and give the students more chance to find a job. Also, it offers education to adults that couldn’t study when they were young. They can have the middle school certificate. Furthermore, it offers education and Italian language courses to people coming from other countries. It offers also a first secondary school certificate to students that want to continue studying and get a secondary school diploma. Taranto, the town where the school is, is nowadays a “hub” where refugees come and stay untill they will know where to go. The most of them remain in the territory, but they have big problems in finding a job.

Miðstöð símenntunar á Suðurnesjum (MSS) is a self-owned educational institution operated in the southwest of Iceland. It is founded by the local
communities, the labor unions, the Sudurnes Comprehensive College, key companies and the National Workers/Educational Association in Iceland. The main objective of MSS is to promote and assist in adult education in the community, with special attention to the increase of continuing education, increased personal skills and qualifications, as well as promoting general wellbeing of the population. The institution cooperates with schools at university level, private schools, specialized schools and individual instructors. It provides hobby courses, courses for unemployed people, courses for unskilled employees and continuing education for skilled personnel. MSS targets specially those who have not completed upper secondary level of education. Courses are prepared in cooperation with other educational institutions, companies, individuals and organizations.

Porsgrunn Adult Education Centre
(Norway)
Porsgrunn Adult Education Centre is a public education institution which offers education to different target groups. The activities are organized in 4 departments:
- Norwegian language: Training immigrants in Norwegian language
- Primary school / Generally secondary education for adults, both Norwegians and immigrants
- Bilingual department: Coordinates training for pupils from language minorities in primary and assigns schools, upon application, resources for special language. The Centre also coordinates bilingual assistance in kindergartens and assigns resources for this on application. One of the projects for bilingual department includes ICT in language stimulation. By being able to provide online bilingual professional support we can maintain the high academic standard of these services regardless variation in pupil basis.

We have 27 years of experience in the field of working with migration and integration in the south of Norway, and also in working with disadvantaged groups.
Our organisation has long experience in using different methodologies for training immigrants in the Norwegian language, making training-plans for immigrants that includes assessing the skills and abilities and suggestions for how to act to get a job (what kind of education is necessary, the identification of training needs and gaps, what trades are in need of workers and so on). As an organiser of several courses for immigrants, contenting language training combined with working practise, we are well known with immigrants as a group, their needs and their wishes.
